Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce World's Championship Shrimp Cook-Off

Chamber of Commerce weather and perfectly prepared fresh Gulf shrimp kept thousands happily sated. Sunday's World's Championship Shrimp Cook-Off featured over two dozen contestants in both professional and amateur categories offering a wide variety of shrimp dishes from fried to Orange Citrus Shrimp. But the order of the day was boiled shrimp for the eating contest held at 3p.m. won by Mark Buchan of Scotland.

Vendors, games, live music by “The Agency” and a presentation of Tarpon spirit by the Port Isabel Independent School District made for a family fun filled Sunday in Port Isabel.

PROFESSIONAL DIVISION: 3rd place: Cap'N Roys, SPI; 2nd place: Parrot Eyes, SPI; 1st place: Las Olas, SPI
