The Old Garcia St. District is located on the south east side of Port Isabel. It is the site of the first recorded land owner, Raphael Garcia. The photo to the lower right is an approximation of the landscaping when the land grant was issued in 1829.

When the first Queen Isabella Causeway was constructed in 1954, Garcia Street was a main street in Port Isabel as traffic crossed the swing bridge and then the causeway to get to South Padre Island.

The swing bridge permits access to Long Island Village.
All Island bound traffic had to cross the swing bridge before 1972.
Businesses located in Old Garcia St. District range from a taxidermy service, to restaurants, to marine related services.
