The Port District is located on Port and Marina Drive and borders the turning basin and the Brownsville Ship Channel. The Port was created in the 1930s as a shipping facility for the lower Rio Grande Valley citrus industry.

The Port District is home to fishing and shrimping related industry, the Port Isabel/San Benito Navigation District offices and SeaRanch Marina II, base to the Texas International Fishing Tournament weigh-in activities every year the first weekend in August.
